A large crowd gathers at a long table on a busy pedestrian zone in Bern's old town, with the Zytglogge clock tower visible in the background. Swiss and Bernese flags fly above the alley as visitors sit, eat, and converse. A colourful Honduran street food stall called 'Tortilla Maya' on a city square, where several staff members in green T-shirts are preparing food. The stall is decorated with vibrant menu boards and tropical illustrations.

Gastronomy at Buskers Bern

BUSKERS BERN OFFERS A WIDE RANGE OF HIGH QUALITY INTERNATIONAL AND REGIONAL SPECIALITIES.

Buskers Bern promotes the use and sale of regional, animal welfare-friendly and sustainable products and has defined standards that apply to all 60 catering stands participating in the festival:

  • only Swiss fresh meat and poultry products
  • only Swiss fish or organic or MSC-certified fish products
  • Baked goods: produced in Switzerland
  • Eggs: origin Switzerland
  • Dairy products: Origin Switzerland (exception: cheese specialities from neighbouring countries)
  • Vegetables and fruit: origin Switzerland/Europe

Of course, the artists’ and staff canteen also cooks according to these guidelines, and mainly vegan.

#Buskers Beer

The festival’s own Buskers beer from the Tramdepot brewery is available exclusively at the Buskers bars near the Zytglogge, in the Herrengasse, on Casinoplatz and Münsterplatz, in front of the Erlacherhof and in the Nydegghof.

#Return stations and returnable tableware

You can return tableware anywhere that issues the same items; for example, you can return a fork where forks are handed out, or a 300ml cup where drinks are sold in 300ml cups. From midnight until 1:00 am, an additional return point will be open at Kornhausplatz, Kramgasse, and Münsterplatz respectively.
