The people behind Buskers Bern
With four people in the office throughout the year, up to 40 people help out in the OC.
Throughout the year, four of us work together. We are “The Office” and we organise the festival: obtaining permits and funding, liaising with authorities, hotels and partners, logistics, negotiating contracts for various venues and services, graphics, procuring wristbands and t‑shirts, and much more. We spend most of our time on booking: reviewing applications, tracking down, scouting, contacting and inviting artists. “The Office” consists of: Christine Wyss, Julia Wietlisbach, Stefan Jampen and Melinda Burri.
The closer the festival gets, the more people get involved in the final organization. The Buskers Bern OC consists of about 40 people. They are in charge of the following departments: gastronomy, technics in general, sound technics in particular, volunteers, youth stages, Bizaar and children’s program, bracelet sales and logistics, cleanliness, information booths, and festival logistics.
Inspired by various buskers festivals at home and abroad, sisters Lisette and Christine Wyss founded Buskers Bern in 2004. Today, Christine Wyss manages it together with Julia Wietlisbach, Stefan Jampen and Melinda Burri. They can count on the support of an extremely dedicated organising committee of around 40 people and 250 volunteers.
